This 3 Days 2 Nights Salt Lick Safari Lodge Safari is a perfectly balanced short Kenyan safari that combines two distinct wildlife ecosystems: Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary and Amboseli National Park.

The safari begins with a visit to the famous Salt Lick Safari Lodge, an iconic lodge built on stilts overlooking a natural waterhole.

Here, wildlife frequently gathers to drink, offering guests incredible up-close viewing opportunities even from the comfort of the lodge.

The journey then continues to Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s most celebrated safari destinations.

Amboseli is renowned for its large elephant herds, open savannah landscapes, swamp ecosystems, and the breathtaking backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.

The park’s relatively flat terrain makes wildlife spotting easier, increasing your chances of seeing elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and numerous bird species.

This safari is designed for travelers with limited time who still want a rich and diverse wildlife experience.

With multiple game drives, scenic road journeys, comfortable accommodations, and flexible transport options (pop-up roof 4x4 Land Cruiser or pop-up roof minivan), this itinerary delivers maximum safari value within just three days.

Day 1

Nairobi – Taita Hills – Salt Lick Safari Lodge

Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, heading southeast toward Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary (approximately 220 km, 4–5 hours).

The drive passes through changing landscapes, including open plains and rural settlements, offering glimpses of local life along the way.

Upon arrival at Salt Lick Safari Lodge, you will check in and enjoy lunch while overlooking the surrounding sanctuary.

After some relaxation time, depart for an afternoon game drive within Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary.

Despite its compact size, the sanctuary hosts a good population of elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, impalas, waterbucks, and occasionally lions and leopards.

The smaller ecosystem allows for closer wildlife encounters.

Return to the lodge before sunset. In the evening, enjoy dinner while watching animals gather at the illuminated waterhole below the lodge — a unique highlight that makes Salt Lick one of Kenya’s most distinctive safari stays.
